We are having a great summer so far. Mike has opened up a gallery in Jim Thorpe, PA with his business partner, Danny. This fourth of July weekend was our first day open. Our grand opening gala will be in September.
Tristan is growing so fast. He talks up a storm. It's amazing what he comes out with. We are all healthy and enjoying our new home in Pennsylvania. It is very beautiful here and we are becoming very much involved in the community. I have been asked to join the Board of the Mauch Chunk Historical Society as their PR/Marketing person. I'm honored to be asked and will most likely be a member by August.
I've also started a blog at confessionsofadvraddict.blogspot.com. Please stop by and check it out!
We had a very nice Christmas this year. We finally cleared out our dining room and made it really pretty. We set the table up all nice and formal. I cooked a ham and Apple & Sausage Stuffing and Mike's mom made Shcnitzel and Salad. I also made home made fresh dinner rolls. Danny, Mikes business partner and friend joined us (he's Jewish and so doesn't celebrate Christams). Tristan recieved tons of stuff from Mommy and Daddy, Babka and his Grandma in MT (who bought a whole set of Thomas Train deco items for his bedroom). Santa thought Tristan was a very good boy this year and he got a Black and Decker tool set, Large Fire Truck, Kid tough Camera, Playdo and lots of chocolate in his stocking. Mike bought me an IPod to use when I go the gym so I have been converting all my CD's and making my playlists!
It was a wonderful Christmas!!
I'm making my New Years resolution a little early this year. Can you believe ME.. the one who was always the skinny needs to gain weight type actually needs to lose weight! EEK! Since Tristan will be 3 I think I've passed the time of using having a baby as an excuse..LOL. I've joined the local gym (which is owned by the hospital here and so is very health oriented and has a different feel than say a Bally's). I've been going now for 2 weeks. And.. to add to that I've started up with Weight Watchers online again so I can keep count of the calories. I hope soon I'll see some results.. everytime I look in the mirror Im' shocked at what is looking back at me..LOL. I still expect to see skinny Tara there!!
Today I took Tristan into Jim Thorpe, which is an adorable touristy town near here that has so many little adorable shops, white water rafting on the river and an old train and much more. It was really nice there because they really go all out for Xmas with carolers singing in the streets, every shop decorated for Xmas, Frosty walking around town, a live nativity scene and a Train Ride with Santa. They call it a Victorian Xmas. The ride was about an hour and while we're on the scenic trip Santa visits all the kids in each of the cars and asked them what they want for Xmas and hands out candy canes. Since Tristan is so very much into trains (he LOVES his Thomas Trains) I knew he would enjoy it and he did. He wasn't shy or afraid of Santa at all and told him exactly what he wanted.. PRESENTS!!! and when pressed for more detail he said.. what else.. THOMAS!!..
That's right.. he is now fully and completely potty trained. It was quite a chore. Basically I let him go commando (well without a diaper and in his big boy underpants) and tried to put him on the potty atleast every 1/2 hour. Of course, I'd put him on , he wouldn't go and when he came off the potty he'd wet his pants. It was pretty similar to traning a puppy .. although he got it a lot faster. At one point I heard him saying "stupid diaper, stupid diaper" and sure enough I looked and he was cursing the diaper because he was peeing and it was running down his leg. We were unsuccessful the first day, but by the next morning he pretty much had it down. Poo Poo was a little bit longer, but now he's a pro!!
Mike
and I have finally moved out of Long Island, NY and have settled in
Lehighton, PA. It's beautiful here . We're surrounded by 163
Acres of Farmland with neighbors near, but not too near. We're
actually in Mahoning Township but it uses the Lehighton PO, so it's
a Lehighton adress. We're rural but not too rural for me, as we have
a Walmart, Big Lots, Super Giant, McDees, Dunkin Donuts and we're
getting a new Lowes and more. We're about 30 minutes from
Whitehall/Allentown/ Bethlehem , 5 miles from Jim Thorpe and about
10 - 15 minutes from Skiing at Blue Ridge Mountain. And the
cost of living is so much less here. We're currently renting an old
farmhouse (picutred here).
